The ELSE project has 3 OBJECTIVES, addressing a number of NEEDS:

To survey current activity and best practices in the teaching of Humanities in the participating institutions and countries.

NEED: to share information on teaching policies and good practices, and on the use of digital technologies for curriculum development.

To develop and showcase innovative pedagogies and provide recommendations for the best ICT applications for competence teaching at university level.

NEED: to increase learner-teacher interaction, removing disciplinary barriers, enhancing competence learning and metacognitive awareness while safeguarding the acquisition of academic knowledge. Innovative pedagogies including narrative approaches, thinking-aloud, quest-storming, digital scholarship and simulation, authentic learning modulated as project-based learning, will be tested and evaluated.

To design digital learning environments that support blended learning and active students' participation.

  1. to encourage personalized and cooperative learning/teaching, aiming at student inclusion, retention, and motivation, by building upon consolidated digital experiences (Moodle, Open Courseware, Knowledge Clips, and MOOCs) and extending the flipped classroom model to university;
  2. to equip students with the competences required by the job market, through functional virtual simulation environments, based on problem-setting/problem-solving strategies;
  3. to provide effective feedback, through an e-assessment method and tool inspired by personalization and context-awareness concepts.
